The Story

George Khachfe, at 16, began his apprenticeship at Beirut's most influential architectural firm. He worked during the day and attended night school during the week. He was interested in filmmaking and wanted to study it and become a director, but he had to put his artistic endeavours on hold. He emphasizes that there are no boring stories; everything can be exciting and engaging with a suitable composition. However, he could not fulfil his dream of becoming a film director. He remained in the architectural firm and absorbed as much knowledge of architecture and design as possible. At the same time, he constantly pushed himself to expand his creative horizons while operating within his strictest guidelines.

While working on the Saudi Arabian King's Palace project, Khachfe allowed his creative thinking to something other than classical limitations with prerequisites.

He was always passionate about architecture and design and constantly created innovative, highly functional pieces. He never started with a business plan because he always acted on whims. He decided to open a store right next to where he used to live, a shopping center with various businesses like dentists, bars, and other services.

He started selling over 20 brands and working on projects for interior designers and architects. After a few years, this place was transformed into a Design Centre, the world's premier destination for design and decoration excellence, which is home to 120 showrooms and more than 600 of the most prestigious luxury brands.

In 2002, after successfully building a business with Interdesign UK, he opened his first flagship showroom on Kings Road and was ready for a new challenge as the CEO of Poliform UK. After a few years of success, he quit his CEO position and devoted himself to his InterDesign showroom and his passion for painting

Mr George decided in 2009 to change Interdesign from a multi-brand business and concentrate on one of the brands they were offering, Flexform, becoming the flagship showroom in UK, to increase its competitive advantage.

As a result, he had some distinct advantages, such as the ability to provide designs, quality, and customer service, all of which were his top priorities. In addition, having a firm grasp of the product and focusing on the niche of an innovative design where customer service was high in product specialisation was necessary to be more competitive

fLEXFORM STORY.jpg

FLEXFORM

Flexform is a family affair. Now in its third generation, Flexform was founded in the Brianza furniture manufacturing district in Northern Italy. The unique global phenomenon of Italian furniture design originated right here in the 1960s.
A place where the history of many small artisan workshops that have fashioned wood, metal and upholstery since the early 1900s, intersects with that of the great masters of Italian design, trained at the School of Architecture in nearby Milan. Flexform’s roots are deeply embedded in this historical setting.
In 1959, the Galimberti brothers opened an artisan workshop called “Flexform di Galimberti.” It was soon followed by their first showroom where the sofas and armchairs on display found their way, in the postwar era, into elegant buildings in Milan, villas overlooking Lake Como, and even the foyer of the La Scala opera house.
